The Cheng Brothers Find Their Perfect Career at SCE
Michael Cheng
The CIO of SCE, Michael Cheng, worked as a project manager at SCE while he was studying for a Ph.D. program at National Taiwan University. Because of his excellent performance, he was promoted as the CIO of SCE after receiving his doctorate. He says he is very impressed by the free-spirited working environment and an organizational culture that encourages continuing improvement in one’s professional field.
Frank Cheng
Frank Cheng, a talented professional musician and graduate of the renowned
Berklee College of Music, finds that nothing is impossible at SCE as he
reflects on his experiences here. He first joined SCE to build the first-ever
DigiMedia Technology Education Center (DTEC) in Taiwan. He then became
the head of the center and worked as an instructor at DTEC. He says that
it is possible to play all these different roles at SCE because of its
free-spirited and supportive working environment.
Cutting-edge Architecture
The School of Continuing Education (SCE) is committed to providing a stimulating learning environment for all faculty and students. To help achieve this goal, we have adopted the latest design concepts incorporating the latest technology aiding teaching and learning. Our campuses have been awarded by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), New York Chapter and Golden Awards from the Taipei City Urban Space Reconstruction Projects.
In order to facilitate teaching and learning, all classrooms have been quipped with cutting-edge technology and designs to meet the latest needs of the students. Each classroom has a multi-functional e-podium, inter-faceable to laptops, computers and all other multi-media equipments.
The Digital Library
The Digital Learning Center has been designed to provide a multi-faced learning environment, including multi-media library materials as well as the traditional concept of a library, except with a touch of latest hardware as well as cyber-materials.
Technology Research and Development Center
–A young, innovative professional team
To build a digital campus, we have a team of around 30 MIS professionals to develop, design, and maintain computer networks and services on campus for external and internal purposes. To serve the needs of the students and visitors, as well as external users, a portal web site has been built to allow the latest information and services via the Internet or the cell phone. To serve the internal organizational operation, the Educational Resource Planning (EduRP) system integrates the management of administrative affairs and the Learning Management System into a one-stop e-counter. This provides instant, reliable Internet services to the staff of SCE.

One-Stop Student Services Center
Our one-stop student services center was established in 2000, being the pioneer of all educational institutions in the nation, to migrate concepts of the call-center, integrating registration, information providence as well as any other student-related before and after registration administrative needs into one unique interface.
It has adopted concepts of the modern day’s service center, with aims to provide a 1-stop no, all resolutions center, hoping to break the traditions of the ‘old college’ style of diversified, unpieced puzzles of student needs and demands. From
It utilizes the modern day e-commerce concepts, call center 0800 service, face-to-face student-customer-service interface, as well as all other forms of telecommunication devices in order to provide the best efficient, conveniences to the busy individual.
Liaisons with the community
Free seminars, short courses, conferences, lectures, and workshops are continuously
designed and offered to the public free of charged every month. On top of
this, special courses are also designed for less advantaged individuals such
as teaching the visually impaired to reach higher potentials of their body
utility, international film festivals for held for the mentally-disabled
which shows documentaries from a variety of countries, including Finland,
Spain, South Korean and Japan.
